Welcome to Healing space BIPOC

Welcome to Healing Space BIPOC a unique, wellness space run by and for black women and women of colour.

Centring our lived experiences and making holistic practices accessible.

We understand how well being is impacted by inequality and the importance of being in safe spaces, learning from qualified and trusted sources.

This is a community of women of colour reclaiming healing to help reduce burn out, people pleasing and live a more fulfilling and happy life.

We have the knowledge and experience to take you on this wellness journey.

The aims of this community include,
  • Learning to be comfortable in our own skin.
  • Care for our body, mind and spirit.
  • Reduce the negative impact of racism and sexism.
  • Meet and learn from likeminded people interested in holistic wellbeing.
  • Be authentic and show up as you are.
  • Respect spiritual practices from different cultures.
  • Each person's contribution and uniqueness is valued and respected.

Spaces for Black women and women of colour are important for a number of reasons, including:

Claiming space: Claiming physical space can help women of colour be seen, heard, and respected.

Subverting power structures: Black and BIPOC-only spaces are meant to challenge existing power structures.

Creating safe spaces: Black women often create and maintain safe spaces to tell their stories outside of the white gaze.

Nourishing resilience: Kelsey Blackwell says that spaces for people of colour can be sources of nourishment and resilience.

Sharing experiences: Sharing experiences can help build community and solidarity.

About me

My name is Emma Kelly and pronouns are she/her, I'm African Caribbean and white British heritage.

I'm a yoga and meditation teacher. Having studied in India for my 200 hour yoga teacher training at Trimurti yoga school in 2014.

I have been teaching yoga classes, workshops and international retreats to Bali, Morocco and India.

You can find out more about my retreats for all women here, www.yogawithemmakelly.com/bali-retreat.html

I have a BA Honours in Social work.

I'm an avid traveller and love to learn about different cultures and spiritual traditions around the world.

Over the past seven years I have been researching African spiritual practices and reconnecting to the lineage of my Jamaican ancestors.

Some of my teachers and inspiration for my work have included Dr Rosales Meza a Xicana/Mexicana healer, Asha Frost an indigenous medicine person,  and Ekta Hattangady Buddhist Dharma teacher.

I'm learning to navigate how to run a business which allows me to dream, rest, play in a way that is in integrity with my values of creating genuine community and support.

I love books, tarot, walking in the woods, African drumming and dancing, deep conversations and seeing women of colour win.

Thank you so much Emma! You’re amazing at what you do, you’re easy going and approachable as well as steadfast in your core values and beliefs.

You have a wonderful teaching style and you go above and beyond to make your workshops accessible for those who may need extra support which as a non neuro-typical individual, I appreciate very much.

The workshop was such a good experience! It was so insightful, so calming and empowering. It was such a lovely group of women. Emma is a great facilitator and the workshop was delivered perfectly and left me with lots of food for thought.

Thank you!

"I really enjoyed the day retreat. It was a very calm, relaxed atmosphere. It was great to start with a lovely gentle yoga practice.

I liked exploring the journal questions, which really made me think about the impact of generational trauma.

It was also enlightening to hear about Ayurveda principles and how you can incorporate this ancient wisdom in self care practices.

I left feeling nourished and included.
