Brighton self care and healing day retreat
13th July
1.30 to 5.30pm
Experience community, connection, relaxation, learning and fun.
This day is dedicated to your total relaxation, rest and renewal.
Many of us are juggling busy work lives, family and community responsibilities and are in need of self care and rest.
The day will include a gentle, restorative yoga class, that aids helps the body reach optimal healing state called rest and digest mode.
The mindful yoga will ease out all tension and stress from the body and mind, leaving you feeling calm and refreshed.
There will then be a spiritual herbalism workshop about herbs and practices that support womb wellness.
The workshop will look at some accessible herbs that can support you throughout the life cycle from menstruation through to menopause.
Womb wellness is a very important topic to discuss due to black and Asia women suffering higher rates of fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis and painful periods.
The day will finish with a guided relaxation technique called yoga nidra which helps the body and mind reach a deep state of relaxation, known to improve mood, creativity, memory and sleep.
Think calm, cosy, chilled day, with likeminded people interested in wellness and learning.
As black women and women of colour rest and self care is even more important to overcome the harmful messages and stereotypes around laziness, having to be strong and servitude to others at the expense of ourselves.

Brighton day retreat 13th July
”The retreat allowed me to reconnect with myself in a way that I hadn’t in such a very long time. I was able to take time to pause, breathe and listen to my body and mind. It was wonderful being surrounded by women that looked and sounded like me that had a similar mindset. I hope to attend a future session.” Monique |
“It felt safe… like family.
The retreat spiritually energised me. I walked in feeling flat and tired, and left feeling so much happier, calmer, more understood, and like I was part of something bigger. In a white-majority society, it felt so heartening to be in a place with only BIPOC Women.” Shabnam Kwofie |
"I left the retreat feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
The retreat was thoughtfully organised to create a welcoming atmosphere where connections flourished. The African Spirituality workshop was particularly enriching, connecting us to our shared ancestry. I Highly recommend this retreat for anyone seeking rest, reflection and community amongst black women. " Rianna Raymond-Williams |
"All parts of the day were stimulating, validating and rejuvenating to the mind, body and spirit in ways I have not experienced in other 'holistic' settings - but have been always seeking.
What a lovely experience. I've been talking about it all week. I've been wanting to experience the BIPOC retreat for some time, and was so glad I could make this one! The intention they've poured in is apparent and appreciated. Thank you both." Destinee Desiree |
"The retreat was such an incredible, powerful, and healing day.
I gained so much and I left feeling such a kinship with everyone. The space is safe, communal, supportive and allows you to really lean into your emotions and sense of self. I highly recommend Emma's retreats and workshops for your self care and healing journey. Emma led us through a yoga session that was inclusive for all levels and body types and helped us relax into the day in such a calm, nurturing manner. We then had an incredible healing circle session with a holistic therapist, which was so empowering, supportive, and emotional. The session focused on womb health and all of our collective health/fertility experiences as black and brown women. Knowing we aren't alone in what we have experienced, and being surrounded by such compassionate and supportive women was immensely healing and freeing. We ended the day learning about African spirituality with Emma, who guided us through a wonderful Goddess exercise which was empowering and allowed us to receive messages of hope, compassion and resilience."
