You will be welcomed to the retreat with herbal teas to support relaxation and wellness.
You will settle into the quiet, calming space, roll out your yoga mat and be led through a gentle and restoring yoga class and meditation to help you feel grounded and calm.
Think calming, cozy, nourishing classes.
The yoga I teach is best suited to those who are needing time to learn simple, yet effective ways to relax, slow down and learn to take care of their body and mind.
The yoga asana (yoga poses) are gentle, yet effective way of supporting energy to flow freely within the body, supporting healthy joints and gentle stretching to increase range of movement and release tension and the build up and stress.
We will then have a women's circle, a safe space for us to come together, to support each other.
A space to be seen, heard and valued just as they are. A safe space to connect with like-minded women, recharge your batteries, and tap into your soul’s wisdom.
This will be facilitated by Phiona Ormesher who specialises in womb and women's wellness.
As black women and women of colour it’s important to have a safe spaces to discuss and heal menstrual and hormonal challenges.
Menstrual problems such as painful periods, fibroids, PCOS and endometriosis affect black women significantly more than white women.
Also, Asian women are effected by these condition at higher rates than white women.
This women's circle is led by you the individual and you can share as much as you like or listen and does not have to be related to womb health, we will listen and support.
The final session of the day will focus on self care and creating actionable steps to implement our wellness goals, whilst acknowledging our personal and collective challenges of doing so.
The day retreat will be run by Emma Kelly, a White British and African Caribbean woman.
Emma is a yoga teacher, international retreat host, african spiritual researcher/practitioner, mentor, and qualified social worker.
Emma teaches yoga classes, workshops and retreats since 2014, having studied my yoga teacher training in India and running retreats in Goa, with one in January 2025, details here, www.yogawithemmakelly.com/goa-yoga-retreat-january-2025.html

"I left the retreat feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
The retreat was thoughtfully organised to create a welcoming atmosphere where connections flourished. The African Spirituality workshop was particularly enriching, connecting us to our shared ancestry. I Highly recommend this retreat for anyone seeking rest, reflection and community amongst black women. " Rianna Raymond-Williams |
“It felt safe… like family.
The retreat spiritually energised me. I walked in feeling flat and tired, and left feeling so much happier, calmer, more understood, and like I was part of something bigger. In a white-majority society, it felt so heartening to be in a place with only BIPOC Women.” Shabnam Kwofie |
